Masters - Pema Chodron
Pema Chodron was born Deirdre Bloomfield-Brown and raised Catholic in New York, but when she couldn't shake the suffering of her second divorce and read an article by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche that suggested working with emotions rather than trying to get rid of them, she took up Buddhist studies and in 1974 become a novice nun. She has lucky enough to work intimately with a number of master teachers so now has a deep understanding of Buddhist practice but with a western viewpoint and voice. Just the titles of her books are intriguing: Taking the Leap, The Places That Scare You, Start Where You Are, The Wisdom Of No Escape, and Comfortable With Uncertainty. The wisdom they contain is awesome, and she is an excellent teacher I highly recommend.
